State of Beer

It’s the most wonderful time of the year- the Downtown Raleigh Christmas Parade! If you’re new here, we throw the best parade party in town with Breakfast Burritos, Hot Chocolate, Mulled Wine, Hot Cider, @the_lefthook coffee, spiked hot beverage options, and our full bar inside! Located right on the parade route, we start partying at 7am so you can find your spot to enjoy the parade. We can’t wait for next weekend, you won’t want to miss it!

This weekend we’re tapping beer and cider from our friends at @terranovabeerco @molleychomper @botanistandbarrel @hiwirebrewing @burialbeer to raise money for WNC! A dollar per beer will be donated to @belovedasheville and we’re going to keep tapping new kegs all weekend long. Thanks for your continued support as we try to help the folks affected by Hurricane Helene.

Like most of you, it has been devastating for us to witness the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in WNC. In an effort to support the community out there, we’re opening up as a supply drop off location for the rest of the week, which we will be handing off to the folks at @opairdrop on Saturday. Our April Featured Artist Denice graduated from the College of Charleston in 2016 with a BA in Psychology and a BA in Studio Art, and later got her Masters in Art History at the Univeristy of Richmond in London in 2023. Her Art has always leaned toward the abstract, and she loves to find inspiration from combining material textures and capturing movement. Her psychological background continues to be applicable today, as people look at her work like a Roschach inkblot test and discuss what they find hidden. Nowadays Denice likes to approach her art with a sense of humor and freedom, and finds interest in every day consumable products. Denice is a Carolina native and has called Raleigh her home for nearly 7 years.

Most of you have heard of the tragic passing of Dan Wade, founder and owner of Wooden Robot Brewery. The NC Craft Beer community is a tight knit group, so when someone suffers a loss like this, we want to come together and support as much as we can. So, tonight we’ll tap 3 @woodenrobotbrewery beers and will be donating all proceeds to Dan’s wife and newborn son, as well as the Wooden Robot staff fund. Meet our featured artist for February, @artbytheresaraines ! Theresa will be at State of Beer this First Friday to debut her work. Theresa is an intuitive abstract artist, creating vibrant art for memorable spaces. She specializes in mixed media, using acrylics, spray paint, ink, adhesives, and paper. Her work extends beyond edges. It doesn’t want to be contained or restrained. She creates multiple pieces simultaneously, flowing from one canvas to the next with big athletic strokes. Click here to see her process in the studio! She often incorporates fluid art techniques and decoupage for layered effects. She prefers to work on a large scale and enjoys developing customized art for specific spaces and audiences. She believes color and shape can inspire and energize. Her goal is to make happy art and bring joy to those that see it. Born in Sweden, she is now a US citizen working out of her Cary, NC studio.
